A very strange map indeed - what was its purpose and who was the author?


And by the way -riddle me this

  1. I'm gonna guess that these were developed by Alfred Wegener to illustrate how the continents experienced different climates as they drifted around the globe.
    But maybe these are earlier than this...

  2. It´s a bit tricky - I will spoil that it is (much) earlier than Wegener - the map was intended to display what happens if equvalent landareas to modern continents emerge (not move) on other latitudes...
